Markus, sleep plays a very special role in your life. Why?
I have always been interested in the question of why every living being must spend a large part of its life sleeping – a state in which one is completely at the mercy of the external environment and which, at first glance, appears as if one is doing nothing. However, if one takes a closer look at sleep, one realizes the important role it plays in our health and well-being and how many processes, z.B. our eating habits, and our sleeping habits are influenced by them. This really fascinates me and was the driving force for me to spend years working on this topic and, based on the knowledge gained, to create the brand
What are your sleep areas of expertise?
In my academic career, I've studied how our sleep is regulated and why we need to sleep in the first place. I've also been very interested in the effects of exercise, media, and dietary habits on sleep, and I've conducted several studies on this topic. Our study on media consumption and sleep even made it into the New York Times.
